About Joey

​

Joey is a writer of poetry and essays, and a lover of words and stories. She is curious about the world at large, and is especially passionate in human rights and race issues. Her work revolves around ideas and pursuits of freedom and identity, as well as more personal matters, such as love, growth, family, and womanhood. She wishes to one day be able to inspire, empower, and enliven those who seek to breathe and believe in the power of the written word. 

 

She holds a BA degree in English and Creative Writing, and a minor in Mass Communications. She graduated from the University of Iowa in Spring 2017.
